Cambridge Coronavirus Fund

A community fund, backed by Reach Plc’s the Cambridge News and Iliffe’s Cambridge Independent, raised over £1.3 million pounds in donations.

The fund was created jointly with the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation at the beginning of the pandemic to help support those most affected by Covid-19. The fund has now awarded over 200 grants across the county, including to Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue, Cambridgeshire Reuse & Recycling Network and Cambridge Sustainable Food Alliance.

When the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic hit CCF identified a chronic need for emergency funding for a large number of groups supporting vulnerable people across Cambridgeshire.

The campaign was supported by hundreds of members of the public. Many large local businesses, Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council, and the National Emergencies Trust also donated significant amounts.

In total more than £1.36 million was raised from the launch of the fund in March 2020. A total of 233 grants were awarded to community groups.
