Change The Law For Life

The Daily Mirror launched their campaign Change The Law For Life campaign to change the law around organ donors and raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

After a three-year campaign, then Prime Minister Theresa May announced a new law in England where everyone is presumed to be an organ donor when they die unless they opt out.

In the Parliamentary debate on MP Geoffrey Robinson's Private Members Bill, politicians from all parties praised the Mirror's role in making the law a reality.

In England, the Mirror’s campaign helped shape the national debate on organ donation. An unprecedented 17,000 people took part in the Government consultation on the new opt out system.

Theresa May said: "The Mirror's campaign is a big reason we are closer to passing Max's Law, inspired by a very brave young man."
