Telford's Child Sexual Exploitation Scandal

The Sunday Mirror has spent years fighting for justice for the forgotten victims of Telford's child sexual exploitation scandal. The expose, centring on four decades of abuse and led by reporters Geraldine McKelvie and Nick Sommerlad, led to West Mercia Police opening an investigation.

The newspaper passed the dossier of evidence it has uncovered which helped convict four men of offences dating back to 2000. The investigation is continuing, and further prosecutions are expected to follow.

The expose has also prompted a public inquiry by Telford and Wrekin Council, after the Sunday Mirror revealed claims that organised networks of paedophiles had begun targeting vulnerable young girls in the town in the early 1980s but that warnings about the issue had not been acted upon.

The Sunday Mirror have since continued to reveal how victims were failed in Telford and are expected to give evidence at a public inquiry.
